The sporty N Line trim is the only one to offer a 2.5L turbocharged engine. This engine is built for performance, with the turbocharger allowing it to deliver 290 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque.
The three hybrid trims all use the same powertrain. This is a 2.0L I-4 gas engine paired with an electric motor on the front axle. The small lithium-ion battery in the Sonata’s frame helps to power the electric motor, with the gas engine charging the battery at lower speeds. The combined output of this hybrid powertrain is 192 hp, closely matching the base gas engine.
As expected, the hybrid delivers the best fuel economy, while the N Line has the quickest acceleration. The 2026 Sonata Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 51 MPG combined, while the N Line provides a respectable 27 MPG combined. The SE and SEL Sport with front-wheel drive deliver an impressive 32 MPG combined, while opting for the available all-wheel drive reduces this figure to 27 MPG combined.
The N Line is the quickest of the six trims, able to go from zero to 60 mph in just 5.2 seconds, while the Sonata Hybrid will achieve the same feat in 8.1 seconds, which is enough acceleration to safely merge onto highway traffic at rush hour.
